ABOUT THE ARTIST
Brittani Tkacz is a potter and Visual Arts teacher at Hathaway Brown Upper School in Shaker Heights, Ohio. She formerly taught at Rancho Campana High School in Camarillo, California from 2014-2024. She has nearly 20 years experience in teaching Visual Art, Painting, Ceramics and 3D Sculpture, Photography, and A.P. Art and Design, and has founded Ceramics Clubs at several high schools during her long teaching career.
She loves to create beautiful things for daily use.
Brittani attended college on a full athletic scholarship for swimming, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art with a concentration in Ceramics, from Cleveland State University in 2002. She coached USA Swimming full-time for several years after college before moving on to grad school to study Art Education. She earned her teaching degree and Master of Arts in Art Education from Ursuline College in 2008, and began teaching High School Art full time. She loves to make pottery and clay sculpture, draw and paint, and also has extensive experience in fabric painting.
Brittani and her husband, David, have two children, Esme and Jude, a Jack Russell named Luna Lovegood, a Golden Retriever named Quentin Coldwater, and a cat named Ginny Weasley.
They love to watch anything in the fantasy genre (especially Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings), and old horror movies.
